The Goal Is To Grow

healthIt's February 2, 2012. How are those resolutions going? On track?

I recently measured my ten year old son on his growth chart. My mouth dropped to see that he is now physically off the chart at 5' 1". Each day, you can barely notice that he is growing. Yet, obviously he is by leaps and bounds.  Look at a tree. It does not go from seedling to full grown in a day. It grows each day, so long as it is getting the sun, water and nutrients it needs. Perhaps this year, your resolution should be tied in to growing just a little bit each day, each week, each month. Make it measurable. For instance, measure your physical strength by how long you can hold a plank or how many reps you can do in a bicep curl. Measure your personal growth by how many pages you've read in a book or how many seminars you go to. Measure your relationships by the deposits you make such as date nights or special touches to let your loved ones know that you care. When any goal seems too large, it can surely be broken down in to a small achievable step. Just take that step each day. But, also make sure that you are nourishing yourself just like the tree. Make sure that you are recharging yourself so that you can grow.  Each month, ask yourself just one question. Have I grown? At the end of the year you will be amazed at the transformation.
